I was gonna say that looked like a tunisian stitch! Looks awesome!

Question though, did you have to use a really long crochet hook to get a square that size? Or is there a way to do it with a shorter hook? Just wondering since the stitch goes all the way across the hook, so it seems like you'd need a long hook for that. (I'm wondering because I make pillows sometimes too, but I cross-stitch the pictures on. But color changing looks a lot nicer, and I was thinking it'd look good in this stitch. I only just recently learned how to do tunisian crochet, anyway).

Hi, I was wondering if you could help me?
Whenever I do Tunisian crochet, the stitches come out very stretched and rectangular ([link]). Any idea what I'm doing wrong or how to fix it?

Thanks! Your stuff looks great by the way, excellent work, I'm trying to do Pokemon sprites I mocked up but it's just giving me fits. :(

wow, sorry to be responding so late!! don't worry, mine do too(comes out taller than wider). i try to make my stitches on the looser side rather than tight and i block the hell out of it when finished. not sure what kind of yarn you use but for me, it's mostly synthetics...and YES you can block them too(not just natural fibers). i think that's just the nature of simple stitch when doing tunisian crochet btw, you're not doing anything wrong(everyone i've known has this 'issue').

:D Thanks so much for the reply, no worries (my Tunisian hook for my project hasn't even come in yet...>_>)

That's probably all true. Someone else I asked also suggested that it's the way I'm working the color changes.

What do you mean "Block"? o.o

you can always google for a better explanation(lol) or how-to vids, but it's basically pinning down your project to your liking(with tunisian i stretch it so the width of the stitches are somewhat the same as the height)and use water(like in a spray bottle) or steam and let dry which in turn sets the 'shape'.
